Innovative detectors for THz/IR sensing and imaging systems
THz/IR sensing and imaging systems can expand the capabilities of portable devices beyond the human vision. The objective of this project is to study sensing solutions operating from the THz to the infrared region exploiting antenna-coupled field-effect transistors, including the study and optimization of the devices and the electronic design of integrated readout and control. The student will have to tackle the challenges with a multidisciplinary point of view, from the quasi-optical and electromagnetic point of view, the device behaviour, and a special focus on the integrated circuit design aspect.
